Choosing the Right Commercial Locks for Your Business

Choosing the Right Commercial Locks for Your Business

Every business owner realizes that keeping it safe is one of the most important responsibilities. Your building needs strong protection, whether you run a small shop or manage a large office. This is where commercial locks come into the conversation. These locks are designed to keep your space secure and your valuables protected. It is totally reasonable to say that choosing the right one can feel confusing when there are many options in the market. Don’t worry, Locksmith On Duty specializes in business security. And this guide will walk you through it in simple language.

Does The Right Commercial Locks Even Matter

Many business owners underestimate the importance of choosing the right type of commercial locks. They assume that any lock will do the job. But commercial properties face different security challenges compared to homes. For example, more people enter and exit during the day. Not to mention, there is a risk of expensive equipment being stolen. Also, some rooms definitely need higher security than others.
Your business becomes easier to break into if your locks are not built for these situations. A poor security setup can lead to theft, property damage or even safety risks for your employees. We think we have established that the right lock is more than just a detail. It is a key part of protecting your entire business.

The Types of Commercial Locks

It is always ideal to know about the different types of commercial locks available. Each one is designed with specific features to boost security.

Keep reading as we discuss the locks in detail:

1. Deadbolt Locks

Deadbolts are one of the strongest and most common types of commercial locks. They don’t rely on springs. It is very hard for intruders to pick on these.

Mostly used in: Main entrances, storage rooms and offices that need extra security.

2. Mortise Locks

Mortise locks are built directly into the door. They are very durable. These locks last a long time and can handle constant use without wearing down quickly.

Mostly used in: Schools, hospitals, and other buildings with high foot traffic.

3. Keypad or Code Locks

These locks let people enter by typing a code instead of using a key. You can easily update the code if someone leaves the company or if you want more control over access.

Mostly used in: Businesses that don’t want to deal with lost keys.

4. Smart Locks

Smart locks use modern technology like Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. You can lock and unlock doors using your phone. Some even send alerts when someone enters the building.

Mostly used in: Anywhere if you want convenience plus extra control.

How to Choose the Best Locks for Your Business

Now that you know the types, let’s choose a lock for your property.

Follow along for tips on choosing commercial locks for your business:

Identify Your Weak Spots

Walk around your building and think like a burglar. It will help you see which spots need stronger locks.

  • Which doors look the easiest to open?
  • Where do you store expensive equipment or private documents?

Match the Lock to the Door Type

Not all locks fit every door. Some doors are metal and some are glass. Some are wood. Professionals at Locksmith On Duty can check your doors and recommend the best match.

Consider Foot Traffic

Don’t forget to consider how many people come in and out all day. Then, choose locks that can handle frequent use. You can pick either mortise locks or keypad systems.

Think About Access Control

Do you want certain people to have special access? Smart locks and keypads make it easy to manage who can enter which areas.

Plan for Emergencies

Your lock should keep people safe but also allow a quick exit if there is an emergency. Many commercial locks come with safety features that make this easier.

Why Professional Installation Matters

Even the best commercial locks won’t work well if they are installed badly. A lock that is not fitted correctly can fail when you need it most.

This is how the trained technicians can help:

Know which locks work best for different types of doors
Install locks securely and correctly
Provide ongoing maintenance and support

Would highly recommend this business if you are locked out of your car. I left my keys on the seat and was stuck outside of my truck at a gas station. I called locksmith on duty at 1:25am and was quoted $110. I waited about 15-20 minutes for the lock technician to arrive and he had me back into my car and driving away by 2:08am. Both the phone operator and technician were prompt and professional and genuinely very kind people. Very thankful your team was able to help me get home safely!
